It’s 2026 baby, and RCC is so back! We're starting off strong with an exclusive behind-the-scenes state house tour. If you joined us last August you’ll remember some of the tour, but the next part is new: we’ll spend time going onto the floor of the House to meet ‘n mingle with our representatives face to face. This will help you get comfortable talking to your rep. After all, they work for us! It will be a good trial run for anyone who hopes to lobby at the state house, which any member of the public can do in Rhode Island.
We’ll also have the opportunity to watch a press conference by RI Coalition for Children and Families, as February 10th is their advocacy day. And after all this, if you’re still hungry for more, we'll head to the basement to watch a hearing. This is when people, regular ol’ folks, aka “the public”, can give testimony in support or against proposed legislation. This is the beating heart of democracy in action, in our opinion, and it’s really important to understand how a hearing works if you want to be directly involved in our government without getting elected.
